So you joined Tribe of Judah, now what? Time to get connected with
community and get involved!
Finding People, Playing Games
Depending on what games you play, finding other Tribe of Judah members
in-game can be as simple as adding the ToJ tag to your friend's list or
maybe as involved as getting an invite to join a guild. The best place
to get started is at the Tribe of Judah forums,
specifically the General Discussion forum. Stop by,
introduce yourself, tell us where you're from and let us know what
games you're into!
DID YOU KNOW...? ...that your login information for the Tribe of Judah
site is different than your login info for the ToJ Forums? Make sure
you remember account information for both sites! If you have any
problems or questions regarding login information then please send an
e-mail to our Membership Administrator at membership AT toj DOT cc.
If you're already into a specific game that the ToJ has a chapter for,
then your next step would be to edit your profile to join a chapter.
For full instructions, read this.
Next, hit that chapter's forum, introduce yourself and look for
specific information on how that chapter communicates with each other,
or how to get an invite to a guild or clan in-game. Most chapters will
have a sticky thread at the top of their forums with instructions on
getting an invite to a guild and contact info for staff. If not, just
post 'I'm new!' and someone will respond to you very soon.
Quick links to all the chapter websites can be found on the left-hand
menu.
Some chapters have very specific rules and methods for connecting with
other members (many have in-game friend's lists), but generally you can
count on some of the following to be true from chapter to chapter:
The ToJ Tag
To help other members find you in-game, put the Tribe of Judah tag -
[toj.cc] - in front of your handle. Ex. [toj.cc] Tek
Most members have accounts with other Instant Messaging programs like
AIM, ICQ, MSN, and Yahoo. You can consult the ToJ
roster
to find other players' contact information, but it's usually better to
talk to them directly through the forums to get their IM account
details, instead of just adding them without permission.
Teamspeak
Teamspeak is a VOIP (Voice Over IP) program that allows you to talk to
ToJ members using a microphone, headphones and an internet connection.
ToJ uses the Christian Gamers Alliance Teamspeak server. More info on
the ToJ's Teamspeak Server and its requirements can be found here.
IRC (Internet Relay Chat)
IRC is another one of our available means of communication. You can
find the ToJ channel
on the GameSurge IRC Network (irc.gamesurge.net:6667). Join '#toj'. Our
IRC client of choice is mIRC but any IRC client will do.
Next Step: Getting Involved
While the ToJ is definitely all about the games, we're also all about
God, and the ToJ is a ministry to the gaming community, both Christian
and non-Christian. As a ministry, we're always in need of volunteers to
help out with our various initiatives, and are always in need of Staff
Members to help out with the running and organization of game chapters,
or starting up new ones when there's enough interest.
If you'd like to help out (and we hope you do! ),
then check out the Help Wanted
thread to see the currently open positions. If you'd like to help out
within the chapter(s) that you're currently playing in, contact your
chapter leader and see how you can help.
The Tribe of Judah: part of the Christian Gamers Alliance
One advantage to being a member of the Tribe of Judah is that you're
also a part of the Christian Gamers Alliance, a community of Christian
gamers from all over the world. If you don't have much luck finding
players for the game you play within the ToJ, try posting in the Christian Gamers Alliance Forum
and find other like-minded players from other Christian clans and
gaming groups.
Lastly...have fun!
We're here to have fun with other Christian gamers, to grow spiritually
with each other in fellowship, and do God's work within the larger
gaming community, and we hope you do all three with your time here at
the Tribe of Judah!
